Rodney L. Immerman, OD, FAAO
Low Vision Specialist
Specializing in Low Vision Rehabilitation, Evaluation & Management
I am a Doctor of Optometry and consultant to 8 private practices located in the greater Boston area and south coast of Massachusetts near Rhode Island. I have been practicing exclusively low vision since 1982. I am a graduate of the Illinois College of Optometry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. I routinely see patients with diagnoses of age related macular degeneration (ARMD), Stargardt's Disease, macular holes, drug induced toxicity reactions, uveitis, retinal detachment, diabetic retinopathy, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), retinitis pigmentosa (RP) and high myopia. I have spent more than 30 years designing low vision devices for reading, distance, occupational and recreational tasks. I also design low vision glasses for driving and computer use and prescribe electronic magnification devices for reading. I refer patients as necessary to low vision occupational therapy and to appropriate state agencies and organizations to maximize their function.
